FIT? ONLY YOU KNOWThe dictionary defines physical fitness as: good physical condition; being in shape or in condition. What does this mean? Is a 350lb football lineman or a sumo wrestler in good physical condition even though they have guts the size of a bloated whale? Is a 6ft, 120lb. super model in good physical condition because she is so “lean”? Or, who is the most fit: a 150lb person who can bench press 150lbs or a 300lb person who can bench press 200lbs? The answer in each case is the same: the person who can do the most with their own body is the most fit! If you weigh 350lbs, run like the wind, jump- not roll- out of bed in the morning, and basically just feel great, than your fit, but probably fat. If you weigh 120lbs, have not got an ounce of fat on you, have an unbelievable flat stomach, but have no energy, can't move with agility, and you just don't have a lot of pep, either you are sick, or your not fit! It is as simple as that. Being fat and being fit are not mutually exclusive. Being thin, thus fit, is not a given. But if you want to be fit and look good, the answer is both tone your muscles and get lean; don't waste your time trying to accomplish both thru exercise! Exercise to fatigue is the only sure way to tone your muscles. Eating fewer calories is guaranteed to make you leaner . EXERCISEAnd when it comes to exercise for building and toning your muscles, what is this nonsense about 20 minutes a day? What are you trying to accomplish? Is it that you have nothing better to do? If so, why not contemplate your navel for 4 hours a day? A 20 minute exercise will accomplish about as much, unless you exercise the right way. And the right way is to build strength by taking your muscles to fatigue. When muscles go to fatigue, your body knows that muscles have been damaged by not having the strength to do the work that they have been called upon to perform. The body will then rebuild those muscles to a higher level, if given enough time to recover. If you exercise but never go to fatigue, your body will assume that all is well and no further development of your muscles is necessary. What this will accomplish is that you will build your endurance, but not strength. So, if trying to build strength and tone your muscles, and time is important to you, you need a device that takes the most muscles to fatigue, in the shortest period of time. There is nothing in the world that performs this function better (see EXERCISE COMPARISON CHART) or faster (2 MINUTES) than NoSlack's! V-Gym™. MAKING YOURSELF LEANERThere is a common misconception that if you exercise you will lose weight. What people don't realize is that the human body is a super efficient machine when it comes to the amount of fuel (calories) it needs as compared to the amount of work that it does. As an example, a candy bar with 300 calories (which most have) will take upwards to ½ hour of running, not jogging, to burn-off. A far more efficient way is to not eat it, in the first place, and spend the half hour sitting on a park bench enjoying the view-less work, more fun! Another way of looking at the body's capacity for work: it is estimated that Lance Armstrong burns only 5000 calories during a 6 hour mountain climb over the Alps during the Tour de France, while an average human being burns 2000 calories per day simply by being alive. Most of us aren't ready, yet, to put forth the effort that Lance does, so the better approach is to concentrate on the input side of the equation (calories in) than the output side (work performed), if losing weight is your goal. IN SUMMARY: Fatigue will build and tone your muscles - - allow time to rebuild, then do it again! Eating fewer calories than you burn-off will make you leaner! |
